WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Beth Van Duyne recently introduced legislation to authorize the transfer of unused materials for border wall construction to Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.
Since January 21, 2021, construction on the border wall came to an abrupt halt, costing the Biden Administration millions per day.
“While over $100 million worth of steel panels lie rusting in Texas, communities across the country are suffering from President Biden's border crisis," said Rep. Van Duyne. "This administration may decide wasting millions of dollars at the American people's expense is okay, but I am proud to introduce prudent legislation that will secure our border and stop this reckless misuse of materials.”
Last week, Rep. Van Duyne sent a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas and Chief of Engineers Scott Spellmon demanding they reallocate all unused border materials purchased by the federal government to secure the southern border and put the federal contractors who are paid with our tax dollars back to work.
