Press Releases

FORT WORTH, TX – Rep. Beth Van Duyne (TX-24) released the following statement after attending the funeral of Rep. Ron Wight (TX-6).

“Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Congressman Ron Wright, an incredible man and a true servant leader. Ron Wright was a pillar of our community, bringing a gentle spirit and a kind word to every discussion. He will always be remembered for his dedication to his constituents and our country.

“While I regret not being able to spend more time serving alongside Ron in the House, I’m confident that his legacy will live on in the impact he had on so many individuals in Texas, Washington, and beyond. As we mourn his loss, we hold his family closely in our prayers.

“Godspeed, my friend. I speak for many Texans when I say you will be dearly missed.”

Despite years of painful treatment for lung cancer, Rep. Wright never ceased in diligently serving his district and our nation. He dedicated his life to public service, serving the Arlington area for over 20 years.

In lieu of flowers, the Wright family has asked for donations to the following charities Ron held near and dear to his heart:

Mission Metroplex/Mission Arlington
Metroplex Women’s Center
Traffick911
The National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation
