Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Van Duyne introduced the Stopping Excessive Climate Reporting Act to prevent the Securities and Exchange Commission from imposing a burdensome mandate on businesses, requiring they disclose additional information on far-fetched climate related topics.
Rep. Van Duyne is joined by her GOP colleagues on this bill including: Adrian Smith (NE), Rodney Davis (IL), Rick Allen (GA), Bob Gibbs (OH), Doug LaMalfa (CA), Chip Roy (TX), Jake Ellzey (TX), Lauren Boebert (CO), Ronny Jackson (TX), and Louie Gohmert (TX).
"I’m fighting to stop Biden’s Green New Regulation Tyranny. The SEC should focus on stopping illegal activities on Wall Street, not inflicting the pain of far-left climate activists on businesses," said Rep. Van Duyne. "This bill would stop the requirement of these unnecessary climate disclosures before any unelected bureaucrats can enforce them."
"The 'Stopping Excessive Climate Reporting Act’ is a great bill that is highly beneficial to both shareholders and entrepreneurs. It relieves public companies from the costly burden of the pending SEC’s rule’s mandates to calculate the minutiae of their emissions and that of their entire supply chains," said Competitive Enterprise Institute Senior Fellow and Director of Finance Policy John Berlau. "It also benefits shareholders by preventing the SEC from harming the investment return of the companies they own and overloading them with immaterial information they may not wish to receive."
