Washington, D.C. - Rep. Van Duyne is calling on President Biden to not abandon American citizens trapped behind enemy lines and be true to his words by making sure all of our people are safely rescued from Afghanistan and returned to our country.

"Despite President Biden's baseless claims that all Americans, except those choosing to stay, have been evacuated, my office is still receiving calls from desperate citizens trying to get family members out of the country," said Rep. Van Duyne. "As we received notice yesterday that the last plane carrying US troops departed Afghanistan, it was clear that President Biden was abandoning his promise by leaving American citizens and our Afghan allies in the hands of the Taliban."

"The President of the United States has repeatedly lied to the American people about the status of American citizens stuck in Kabul," said Rep. Van Duyne. "Not only is it an act of cowardice to say the Americans left behind are 'choosing' to stay, it is a complete dereliction of duty to those he has sworn to protect. I have heard from those with loved ones stuck in Afghanistan – they still need our help. President Biden, do you job, quit running away, and rescue fellow Americans and allies who are in danger."
