Press Releases

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Beth Van Duyne (TX-24) today announced her appointment to serve on the House Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress, a bipartisan Committee tasked with studying, investigating and suggesting modernization procedures.

“The American people are tired of the partisan gridlock and want to see Congress work to deliver real results for the people we were sent here to represent,” said Van Duyne. I want to thank Leader McCarthy for the opportunity to serve on this Committee, one of the only committees in Congress that truly operates in a bipartisan fashion. I’m looking forward to utilizing my experience as mayor and in the private sector to bring forth innovative solutions and much-needed reforms.”

“This Congress, House Republicans saw a wave of new, energetic, and diverse candidates join our ranks,” said House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy. “These are members who are going to use their experience and fresh perspective to fix the antiquated ways of Washington. One of these members is Beth Van Duyne, a former Texas mayor and business leader, who has a proven track record of delivering results and improving organizations through her leadership and ideas. As mayor of Irving, Texas, Beth helped lead the city in generating billions of dollars in growth and added thousands of new jobs for her residents. There is no question Beth will bring that same tenacity and visionary approach in her new role on the Modernization Committee.”

About the Committee

The Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress Committee was established by H.Res. 6 on January 4, 2019 and is tasked to investigate, study, make findings, hold public hearings, and develop recommendations to make Congress more effective, efficient, and transparent on behalf of the American people. The Select Committee is one of the only truly bipartisan committees in Congress, with an equal number of Republican and Democratic members.
