Dallas, TX – Rep. Van Duyne announced today Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Airport has been awarded $35,000,000 in grants from the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Terminal Program. DFW Airport received funding for a Zero Carbon Electrical Utility Plant, which will assist in its goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030.

"I am thrilled for DFW Airport to receive this important funding to replace aging infrastructure," said Rep. Van Duyne. "DFW Airport is the first and largest Carbon Neutral Airport in the Western Hemisphere. By securing this funding, we are ensuring one of the largest airports in the country – and a major economic generator in North Texas – can address energy by taking a balanced approach and creating solutions without heavy handed regulations." 

The Federal Aviation Administration awarded grants to 91 projects across 43 states under the FY2022 Airport Terminal Program, created by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). 

The project awarded to DFW will replace its aging steam pipe heating distribution system with the Zero Carbon Electric Utility Plant, which will significantly reduce emissions, water use, and natural gas consumption.

Rep. Beth Van Duyne also secured $5,000,000 for this same project in the FY 2022 Consolidated Appropriations Act and has secured $3,000,000 in the FY 2023 Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Bill both through Community Project Funding (CPF).
