Press Releases

WASHINGTON, DC – Reps. Beth Van Duyne (TX-24), Ronny L. Jackson (TX-13), Pat Fallon (TX-04), Tony Gonzales (TX-23) and August Pfluger (TX-11) today sent a letter to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton applauding his office’s efforts in prosecuting voter fraud and stressing the importance of state enforcement efforts to safeguard our elections.

“While there are several uncertainties surrounding the 2020 election, one thing is for certain: irregularities and unconstitutional power grabs have led millions of Americans – including many Texans – to question both the integrity and the outcome of the presidential election,” they wrote. “We believe, through state enforcement efforts and Federal support to local and state election officials, we can safeguard our elections and regain voter trust.”

As noted in the letter, Texas has witnessed a number of voter fraud cases in recent years. For example, just last year, a Carrollton mayoral candidate was arrested on 134 counts of mail ballot fraud and a Limestone County social worker in a state supported living center was arrested for attempting to register residents to vote without their consent.

“Our democratic system was crafted by our Founding Fathers to ensure each and every law-abiding citizen has a constitutional right to vote, a right that Texans take great pride in exercising at the ballot box,” they continued. “As the newest members of Texas’s congressional delegation, we want to offer our full assistance and cooperation in aiding your ongoing efforts to protect election integrity to ensure the people we represent have full confidence that their legal vote counts.”
